Maer- Where do I begin? Simply amazing work. I really felt like I was there with you, going along for the calm and peaceful ride. I appreciated the wonderful view, the music, and the narration of the activity itself. As a current resident of Maryland, I have grown to love living so close to the water. On a side note, I have actually been thinking about going in on a kayak with a friend. This video pretty much confirmed the fact that I need to start saving! Again, excellent job at providing me with a strong sense of your passion. ~ Leah

Your ideo made the essential pieces that make your kayaking meaningful to you come alive. I suppose I'd be one to leave the marina and all signs of life in a kayak for peace. You highlight what the music and your unique point of view do for you in contrast to a 'normal' kayak sojourn. I did enjoy your POV with the camera, like Leah, it helped me feel exactly what being in the kayak is for you.

... and now I miss river kayaking!

I love it, Maer! I have a kayak, but on an inland lake, there isn't as much to see. Your ride felt so peaceful, and I'm inspired to try the ambient music when I take mine for a cruise; of course, that may not even help with the kids trying to jump on and tip me over! I really liked your camera angle as well, that really helped the experience become more compelling.

Take care!

Maer, throughout the course, I have really looked forward to your thoughtful and thought-provoking commentary. This video is a fantastic example of how you are able to capture an experience in such a powerful way. The music and the perspective of the camera give the viewer insight into what your experience is like, and your explanation of how you make this experience compelling is clear and very relatable. While I have never really kayaked in my life, I can absolutely see how and why you would want to. Really great work. Thanks for a great semester!

Maer,

First, I'd have to say that I am really jealous of your home location.
This is a great compelling video. The music chosen fit well the meditating, calm, and soothing atmosphere that you were trying to project from kayaking. I loved that you kept the sound that the row was making when hitting the water. You also made it explicit that you were able to see things that other could not (such as the boats, etc). I simply loved the video (especially that the Michigan weather isn't as nice as what you're experiencing).

Cheers,
Mark
